Barrow Hill - Temporary Closure For Carry Out Carriageway Maintenance And Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
Temporary Closure of Barrow Hill, Stalbridge
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation between 09:00 until 16:00 on 3 April 2023 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 April 2023. The road will be reopened on bank holidays and during weekends.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
The effect of this Order is as follows:
[1] To impose temporary road closure on Barrow Hill, Stalbridge from the junction with Grove Lane to the junction with Caundle Lane (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1260 metres. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed section.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Barrow Hill, Stalbridge from the junction with Grove Lane to the junction with Caundle Lane (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1260 metres. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

Temporary Closure of Raspberry Lane, Shaftesbury
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Raspberry Lane, Shaftesbury between its junction with Breach Lane and The Stables, Raspberry Lane, a distance of approximately 50 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 17 April 2023 with the closure in place 24hrs a day and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 27 April 2023.
This Order will enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution, safe access to carry out a new connection in the highway.
An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: Tanyard Lane - St Johns Hill - Foyle Hill and vice versa.

Temporary Closure of Various Public Footpaths, Gillingham
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Public Footpaths, Gillingham as follows; [i] Footpath N64/50 between grid reference ST802259 and grid reference ST805262, a distance of approximately 600m, [ii] Footpath N62/1 between grid reference ST810251 and grid reference ST811252, a distance of approximately 60m. The Order is needed to comply with Health and Safety Regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on 3 April 2023 for a period of 26 weeks initially and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This Order will enable Wessex Water to construct a new water main and new foul rising main for the housing development at Ham Farm.
An alternative route will be put in place to enable travel around the closed section.

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of Dorset proposes to make the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.
2. The general effect of the Order will be to:
• Introduce a 30mph speed limit on sections of the A352, Sherborne.
• Introduce a 30mph speed limit on a section of New Road, Sherborne.
• Introduce a 40-mph limit on a section of Sherborne Hill (A352), Sherborne.
