What is happening?
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make two Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians along the footpaths and footways in the Schedule

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2023
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make two Orders under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians along the footpaths and footways in the Schedule. The Orders are required to enable cabling works to take place in or near the footpaths and footways. The Orders will come into operation on 7th April 2023. The maximum duration of the closure under the Orders will be 6 months for the footpaths and 18 months for the footways, however it is estimated that all the works will be completed within 13 weeks, with each closure only being in operation for approximately 2 to 7 days. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the footpaths and footways (except personnel involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Access for affected residents will be maintained outside working hours. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network.

Baltimore Court, Franklin Court, Burgoyne Court, Vermont, Blue House Lane, Victoria Road, Heworth Road, Morris Street, Coverdale Avenue, Weardale Avenue.
