What is happening?

Notice is hereby given by the Council of the City of Sunderland that it intends to carry out works to install new pedestrian crossing facilities along the East-bound and west-bound carriageways of West Wear Street in Sunderland

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 23.
ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW SIGNAL-CONTROLLED PEDESTRIAN CROSSING – WEST WEAR STREET, SUNDERLAND
Notice is hereby given by the Council of the City of Sunderland that it intends to carry out works to install new pedestrian crossing facilities along the East-bound and west-bound carriageways of West Wear Street in Sunderland. The crossing is to be centred 6.4 metres east of the extended western highway boundary of William Street, with the controlled zone applying for a distance of 21.5 metres in either direction, creating a controlled zone of 43.0 metres in total length. The Council has consulted the Chief Officer of Police and given public notice of its proposals. A copy of the plan showing the location of the intended pedestrian crossings and statement of reasons may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland, until 21st March 2023. An electronic copy of the documents can also be obtained by emailing: statutoryorders@sunderland.gov.uk. In addition, a paper copy can be requested by telephoning 01915611612 during office hours.
