What is happening?

THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(LEVEL CROSSING MAINTENANCE - VARIOUS LOCATIONS) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2023

Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the roads as listed in the Schedule to this Notice. The Order is required for level crossing maintenance works to be carried out by Network Rail at the crossings identified in the Schedule. The Order will come into force on the 13 March 2023. The duration of the Order is 18 months; however the works are expected to be completed by the 14 March 2023.During the works all vehicles (except vehicles associated with the works)will be prohibited from proceeding along the above road until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibitions there will be a signed diversion in place.

Schedule

Level Crossing Location
Chainbridge Road from a point 12 metres south west of its centre line with Patterson Road in a south westerly direction for a distance of 30 metres

Skiff Inn Car Park access road at the north end covering the level crossing for a distance of 14 metres

Haugh Lane (Addison Crossing) from a point 7 metres south of the level crossing with the Newcastle to Carlisle line in a northerly direction for a distance of 30 metres

Clara Vale from a point 128 metres north of the junction with Stannerford Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 15 metres
