What is happening?

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.6) ORDER 2023
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 13th February 2023 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Anticipated dates and times of closures 13th February 2023 to 31st March 2023, 8am to 6pm. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Althorp Road the whole length. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Chaucer Road, Argyll Avenue, Blenheim Crescent, Saxon Road, Leagrave Road.
Ascot Road the whole length. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Kennington Road, Bishopscote Road. Alternative route via Bishopscote Road, Beaumont Road, Biscot Road.
Beaumont Road the whole length. Diversion route via Bishopscote Road, Ascot Road. Alternative route via Biscot Road, Cavendish Road, Bishopscote Road. Or further alternative route via Bishopscote Road, Holland Road, Biscot Road.
Cavendish Road the whole length. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Beaumont Road, Bishopscote Road. Alternative route via Biscot Road, Norman Road, Leagrave Road, Holland Road, Bishopscote Road.
Denbigh Road (phase 1 closure) from Kennington Road to Ascot Road. Diversion route via Kennington Road, Biscot Road, Ascot Road.
Denbigh Road (phase 2 closure) from Ascot Road to Beaumont Road. Diversion route via Ascot Road, Biscot Road, Kennington Road.
Denbigh Road (phase 3 closure) from Beaumont Road to Cavendish Road. Diversion route via Beaumont Road, Biscot Road, Cavendish Road. Alternative route via Cavendish Road, Leagrave Road, Tudor Road, Denbigh Road.
Denbigh Road (phase 4 closure) from Cavendish Road to Holland Road. Diversion route via Cavendish Road, Leagrave Road, Holland Road. Holland Road, Biscot Road, Cavendish Road.
Kennington Road the whole length. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Montrose Avenue, Denbigh Road. Alternative route via Denbigh Road, Ascot Road, Biscot Road.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to allow highway improvement works to be carried out. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
