What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Ashurst Road) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.1) Order 2023
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 3rd January 2023 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
ASHURST ROAD

From its junction with First Avenue to outside Nos. 75 to 80. (On the north side)
B) TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE
Footpath East Of 1-5 Ashurst Road Leading To Southampton Road
In its entirety.
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate City Fibre works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 3rd January 2023 to 24th January 2023 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
Notwithstanding the above, the footpath will be closed for one week only. Date of works will be notified by the placement of signs and letters to affected residents and businesses.
E) DIVERSION
Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained around the works with a signed diversion for the footpath closure from Southampton Road - Spur Road Roundabout - Northern Road - Medina Road Roundabout - Medina Road - First Avenue and vice versa.
