What is happening?

(CLOSURE OF PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY AT CHISLEHURST ROAD,
PENSHAW) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2022
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders along the public right of way at Chislehurst Road, Penshaw, (linking Chester Road and Market Crescent), from its junction with Chester Road, for a distance of 450 metres in a south-easterly direction. The Order is required to enable construction works for a housing development on or near the public right of way. The Order will come into operation on 28 th November 2022. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 6 months, however it is estimated that all the works will be completed within 14 weeks from commencement of the works. All users will be prohibited from the above public right of way (except personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided via adjacent public right of way.
