A2070 TRUNK ROAD (NEAR HAMSTREET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A2070 Trunk Road in
the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is:-

a) to authorise the overnight closure of both carriageways of the A2070 between Finn Farm Roundabout (Ashford) and Brenzett Roundabout (A259/B2080), and all side roads at junction with these lengths of carriageway; and
b) to impose a 24-hour mandatory 50mph speed restriction on both carriageways of the A2070 between its junction with Johnson's Corner and its junction with the Ashford Road link.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works at Hamstreet railway bridge including embankment reconstruction, pavement and barrier works, vegetation clearance, and all associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for approximately 6 months starting on or after Monday 19th September 2022. The closures will take place between 20:00 and 06:00 (maximum period) at the beginning and end of the project only, to set up/remove the traffic management.
The Order will come into force on 17th September 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Through traffic affected by the closure will be diverted using the M20 and A259 in either direction. Non-motorway traffic will use the A20 and A261 in either direction, joining/leaving the A259 at Hythe.
The temporary closures, speed restriction and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
