ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (as Amended) – SECTION 14(1)

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH

OF ST. HELENS (POPLAR AVENUE, NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 22nd day of October, 2026, the St. Helens Borough Council made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as Amended), the effect of which will be that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed in either direction along Poplar Avenue between its junction with Acorn Street and number 26 Poplar Avenue, as and when directed by road traffic signs on-site.

The Order will come into force on Monday 9th November 2026, and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, but will terminate on completion of the works, which is expected to be two weeks. The alternative route will be via Acorn Street, Hawthorn Avenue, Oak Avenue and vice versa.

The reason for making this Order is to facilitate the replacement of a section of gas main.
