Kirklees(Cleckheaton Area) - Various Traffic Regulations
What is happening?
KIRKLEES COUNCIL(TRAFFIC REGULATION)
(CONSOLIDATION ORDER PROVIDING
ON-STREET PARKING PLACES, WAITING,
LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS
AND MIGRATION TOA‘MAP-BASED’FORMAT)
ORDER 2024 (AMENDMENT NO. 09) ORDER 2026
PROSPECT ROAD, WHITEHALLROAD &
WHITECHAPEL ROAD, CLECKHEATON
The Council of the Borough of Kirklees propose to make the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects a lengths of roads in the Cleckheaton area of the Kirklees district, will be to amend the Kirklees Council (Traffic Regulation) (Consolidation Order Providing
On-Street Parking Places, Waiting, Loading And Stopping Restrictions and Migration to a ‘Map-Based’ Format) Order 2024 so as to:
i. Prohibit the waiting at any time on lengths of the following roads:
1. Whitehall Road, Cleckheaton 2. Whitechapel Road, Cleckheaton
ii. Revoke items in the Kirklees Council (Traffic Regulation) (Consolidation Order Providing
On-Street Parking Places, Waiting, Loading and
Stopping Restrictions and Migration to a ‘Map-Based’ Format) Order 2024 relating to the existing goods vehicles loading place on Prospect Road, which will be redundant when certain parts of the restrictions referred to above are introduced.
REASON: Waiting restrictions are proposed on Whitehall Road, on the approach to the Chain Bar Roundabout, to prevent parking outside the existing parking lay-by. This will improve visibility and maintain safe access for all road users.
It is also proposed to remove a redundant loading bay on Prospect Road, Cleckheaton, in order to increase the availability of on-street parking for residents, visitors and other road users.
To enable effective enforcement of the existing No Waiting atAny Time restrictions on Whitechapel Road, it is necessary to include these restrictions within this Order. No changes to the existing road markings are proposed. It is considered that these proposals are designed to improve road safety for all road users and provide a small additional length of unrestricted on-street parking.
