THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (WESTMINSTER STREET AREA, SALTWELL) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that on 30 April 2025 the Borough Council of Gateshead made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles and pedestrians from proceeding along the roads and footways as detailed in the schedule below. The Order was required to facilitate works being carried out on a residential development and came into force on 07 May 2025. The maximum duration of the Order was 18 months; however, the works are still ongoing, and a request was submitted to the Secretary of State for consent to extend the Order until all works are completed. Notice is now hereby given that on 02 November 2026 the Secretary of State granted an extension to the Order until 26 February 2027 or until completion of the works, whichever is earlier. During the works all vehicles (except vehicles associated with the works and emergency service vehicles on duty) will be prohibited from proceeding along the lengths of highway as set out in the Schedule below until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.

During the works there will be a signed diversion in place.

Dated: 05 November 2026
