STATEMENT OF REASONS
Slough Borough Council proposes to install
raised Zebra crossings on Essex Avenue where
National Cycle Network Route 461 (NCN461)
crosses these roads.
The proposals aim to improve pedestrian safety and access along the route by:
• Reducing vehicle speeds at the crossing points.
• Providing clearly defined pedestrian crossings with priority over vehicular traffic.
• Improving the continuity and accessibility of the walking route, including for children, older people and disabled people.
• Supporting walking and access to the wider active travel network.
The raised table will encourage drivers to approach the crossings at lower speeds, while the Zebra crossings will help pedestrians cross the carriageway.
