What is happening?

A34 TRUNK ROAD (NEWBURY BYPASS)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire and the Unitary Authority of West Berkshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-by adjacent to the northbound carriageway of the A34 between points
approximately 1460 metres and 1710 metres north-east of the centreline of the Lambourn Road underbridge.

This measure would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway, barrier and technology works and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for approximately eight weeks starting at 00:01 hours on or after Sunday 29th November 2026.
The Order would come into force on 27th November 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. The temporary closures would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
