Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Merton, Footpath No.295/5/10

Date of Order: 22 September 2025

Came into force: 1 October 2025

This Order was introduced because a footbridge over the River Ray has significant defects which pose an unacceptable risk to public safety. Works are included in the Capital Finance Program but a completion date is yet to be agreed due to competing priorities. This is a 24 hour footpath closure. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of the footpath as is carried by the bridge. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to the point of closure. There is no formal available off road diversion available. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. This order, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport will remain in force until 31 October 2028 or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16646/AC)
