What is happening?

DEDDF RHEOLEIDDIO TRAFFIG FFYRDD 1984 (GORCHYMYN TRAFFIG UNFFORDD 2025)
(FFORDD GYSWLLT RHWNG HEOL RICHMOND / HEOL ALEXANDRA, SIX BELLS)

DATGANIAD O’R RHESYMAU

Mae Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Blaenau Gwent wedi derbyn ceisiadau gan aelodau etholedig lleol i adolygu’r trefniadau traffig ar y ffordd gyswllt rhwng Heol Richmond a Heol Alexandra, Six Bells, Abertyleri.

Mae’r ffordd gyswllt yn cysylltu Heol Alexandra â Heol Richmond. I gerbydau sy’n teithio i gyfeiriad y dwyrain, gall graddiant y ffordd a chynllun y gyffordd gyfyngu ar y welededd i yrwyr sy’n dynesu at Heol Richmond. Yn y blynyddoedd diweddar, bu cynnydd yn nifer y gwrthdrawiadau traffig ffordd a adroddwyd yn y lleoliad hwn, gan ysgogi adolygiad o’r trefniadau traffig presennol.

Yn dilyn asesiad, ystyrir y byddai cyflwyno system traffig unffordd yn gwella diogelwch ar y ffyrdd drwy ddileu symudiadau cerbydau sy’n dod tuag at ei gilydd a lleihau gwrthdaro wrth y gyffordd â Heol Richmond. Nod y mesur hwn yw lleihau’r risg o wrthdrawiadau wrth wella gweithrediad cyffredinol y rhwydwaith ffyrdd.

Yn bwysig, byddai’r system unffordd arfaethedig yn cadw’r ddarpariaeth parcio ar y stryd sy’n bodoli eisoes, ac felly ni fyddai’n lleihau’r lleoedd parcio heb gyfyngiadau sydd ar gael i drigolion lleol ac ymwelwyr.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (ONE WAY TRAFFIC ORDER 2025)
(LINK ROAD BETWEEN RICHMOND ROAD / ALEXANDRA ROAD, SIX BELLS)

STATEMENT OF REASONS

Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council has received requests from local elected members to review the traffic arrangements on the Link Road between Richmond Road and Alexandra Road, Six Bells, Abertillery.

The Link Road provides a connection between Alexandra Road and Richmond Road. For vehicles travelling in an easterly direction, the road gradient and junction layout can restrict visibility for drivers approaching Richmond Road. In recent years, there has been an increase in reported road traffic collisions at this location, prompting a review of the existing traffic arrangements.

Following assessment, it is considered that the introduction of a one-way traffic system would improve road safety by removing opposing vehicle movements and reducing conflict at the junction with Richmond Road.

This measure is intended to minimise the risk of collisions whilst improving the overall operation of the road network.

Importantly, the proposed one-way system would retain the existing onstreet parking provision and would therefore not reduce the availability of unrestricted parking for local residents and visitors.
