Wide Lane - Temporary Road Closure due to Carriageway Resurfacing and Waterproofing Works
What is happening?
THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (WIDE LANE) (ROAD CLOSURE) (246/67) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Southampton City Council intends to make the above Order.
1. The effect of the Order will be to close Wide Lane from its junction with Stoneham Way to its junction with Mansbridge Road/Wide Lane roundabout.
2. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. These works are for carriageway resurfacing and waterproofing.
3. The alternative route will be Wessex Lane, Woodmill Lane, High Road, Stoneham Lane, Stoneham Way and Stoneham Interchange.
4. The Order will come into force on 26th October 2026 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. It is expected that the works will be complete by 4th November 2026.
