Croydon - Multiple Temporary Traffic Restrictions & Road Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON
Croydon Council - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Croham Road, South Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate a detailed examination of the railway bridge, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in Croham Road.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Croham Road will be closed between its junction with Muggeridge Close and the western boundary of Nos. 30a and 30c Croham Road.
3. The alternative route for vehicular traffic during the closure will be via: St. Peter's Road, Coombe Road, South Park Hill Road and vice versa.
4. The Order will come into operation on 27 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 28 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14 As Amended, The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Devonshire Way, Croydon - Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas connection works on behalf of SGN, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict traffic in Devonshire Way, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place, Devonshire Way will be closed at its junction with Mead Way, between the common boundaries of Nos. 64 and 66 and Nos. 72 and 74 Devonshire Way.
3. During the closure, the diversion routes for traffic will be via: Wickham Road and Langland Gardens, or via Wickham Road and Hartland Way.
4. The Order will come into operation on 26 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 23 November 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for a maximum duration of 18 months to be reintroduced if further work is required.
5. These restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
(c) a vehicle involved in conducting the said work.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Public Footpath 666 Closure (Between Macclesfield Road And Arena Tram Stop) And Tram Track Pedestrian Crossing Closures Arena Tram Stop - Temporary Prohibition Of Pedestrian Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate tram track maintenance work, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrian movements on Footpath No. 666, and at pedestrian tram track crossings at Arena Tram Stop.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) Public Footpath No.666 will be closed between its junction with Macclesfield Road and Arena Tram Stop.
b) Tram track pedestrian crossing points will be closed at the following locations:
(i) The two tram track pedestrian crossing points at Arena Tram stop.
(ii) One tram track pedestrian crossing point located between the rear of No. 67 Longheath Gardens, South Norwood and Croydon Women’s FC, Albert Road, South Norwood.
(iii) One tram track pedestrian crossing point located between Croydon Women’s FC, Albert Road, South Norwood and South Norwood Country Park.
3. Whilst the closures are in force, the alternative route for pedestrians will be via: South Norwood Country Park, Albert Road, Estcourt Road, Spring Lane, Long Lane, and reversed.
4. The Order will come into operation on 24 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 05 November 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 6 months to be reintroduced if further work is necessary.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a person involved in carrying out the said works.
(b) a person attending for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Glebe Way, South Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate telecoms blockage removal work, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Glebe Way.
2. Whilst the said work is taking place, Glebe Way will be closed between the northern and southern boundaries of 36 Glebe Hyrst.
3. During the closure, the diversion route for vehicular traffic will be as detailed below.
- Via: Glebe Way, Glebe Hyrst, North Down, Purley Downs Road, and vice versa.
4. The Order will come into operation on 28 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed within one day. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
6. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said works.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles to a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Hazledean Road, Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Vehicular Traffic & Parking
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate telecoms pole replacement work, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic and parking in Hazledean Road, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) Hazledean Road will be closed between its junction with Altyre Road and the cul-de-sac at its western end.
b) Parking places within the closure area will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time.
c) The southern footway of Hazledean Road, adjacent to the flank wall of the law courts on Altyre Road, will be closed.
3. During the footway closure, pedestrians will be diverted via: the opposite footway.
4. The Order will come into operation at 8pm on 26 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed at 6am on 27 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
a) a vehicle or person carrying out the said work.
b) a vehicle or person attending for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates entering the section of road to which the order applies.
c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a civil enforcement officer.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood - Temporary Prohibition Of Vehicular Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and reinstatement following utility works, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic movements in Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood.
2. During the said works, Whitehorse Lane will be closed between its junctions with Carnham Road and Holmewood Road.
3. Whilst the closure is in force the alternative routes for diverted traffic will be as detailed below:
- Northbound traffic via: Whitehorse Lane, High Street, Parchmore Road, Green Lane, Streatham High Road, Streatham Common North, Crown Lane, and Beulah Hill.
- Southbound traffic via: High Street, Whitehorse Road, St James’s Road, Sumner Road, Mitcham Road, Croydon Flyover, Barclay Road, Addiscombe Road, Shirley Road, A222 Lower Addiscombe Road, Spring Lane, Portland Road, Manor Road, High Street and South Norwood Hill.
4. The Order will come into operation at 10:00pm on 27 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed overnight and finish at 5:00am on 28 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extents as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Kent Gate Way, Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Vehicular Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate tram track works on behalf of TfL, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic on Kent Gate Way, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Kent Gate Way will be closed north- eastbound between the tram level crossing adjacent to Gravel Hill and Lodge Lane roundabout.
3. During the closure the alternative route for traffic will be as detailed below:
- Via: Gravel Hill, Shirley Hills Road, A232, Addington Road, and Kent Gate Way.
4. The Order will come into operation on 23 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 02 November 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions will not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said works.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
