Croydon - Multiple Temporary Road Closures - Footway Restrictions & Parking Suspensions Due To Various Works
What is happening?
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON
CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Covington Way, Norbury Temporary Prohibition Of Vehicular Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate foul water sewer connection work, they have made an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic movements in Covington Way, Norbury.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Covington Way will be closed between its junctions with Norbury Hill and Christian Fields.
3. During the closure, the alternative routes for traffic will be as detailed below.
- Via: Christian Fields, B273, Norbury Hill, and vice versa.
- Via: Norbury Hill, A215, Biggin Hill, St. Oswalds Rd, and B273, Christian Fields.
4. The Order will come into operation on 12 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be carried out within five days. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
(c) any vehicle involved in carrying out the specified works.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Mount Park Avenue, South Croydon Temporary Restriction Of Traffic
1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas connection works by SGN, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Mount Park Avenue, South Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) Mount Park Avenue will be closed between the common boundaries of Nos. 2 and 4 and Nos. 12 and 14 Mount Park Avenue.
b) The north-western (even-numbered side) footway of Mount Park Avenue will be closed outside Nos. 6 to 10 Mount Park Avenue.
3. During the closure the alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via: Coningsby Road, Kingsdown Avenue, Blenheim Park Road, Culmington Road, and vice versa. Pedestrians will be diverted via the opposite footway.
4. The Order will come into operation on 12 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 16 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
a) any vehicle or person involved in carrying out the said works.
b) a vehicle or person attending for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates entering a section of road to which the order applies.
c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

CROYDON COUNCIL - Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14, As Amended - Temporary Prohibition Of Parking – Albert Road, South Norwood
1. CROYDON COUNCIL, HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate vehicles turning whilst work is carried out, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit parking in Albert Road.
2. Whilst the work is taking place parking in Albert Road will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time on both sides between the entrance to Croydon Arena and the junction of Albert Road with Oakley Road.
3. The Order will come into operation on the 22 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 05 November 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for a period of 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
4. The provisions of the Order will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
(c) any vehicle involved in carrying out the specified works.

1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas mains replacement works by SGN, they intend to make an Order to the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in Coldharbour Road, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place Coldharbour Road will be closed between its junctions with Purley Way and Coldharbour Way.
3. During the closure, vehicular traffic will be diverted as detailed below:
- Via Coldharbour Way, Foss Avenue, Purley Way and reversed.
- Via Denning Avenue, Purley Way and reversed.
4. The Order will come into operation on 26 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed by 23 November 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) A vehicle involved in the said work.
(b) A vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) Anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

1. CROYDON COUNCIL HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate footway works, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements and parking in Coventry Road, South Norwood.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) Coventry Road will be closed to vehicular traffic between its junctions with St Mark’s Road and John Street.
b) The south-eastern (even-numbered side) footway of Coventry Road will be closed to pedestrians between its junctions with St Mark’s Road and John Street.
c) Parking will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time opposite Nos. 8 to 24 Coventry Road.
d) One way working in Coventry Road will be suspended to allow two-way traffic.
3. During the closure the alternative routes for vehicular traffic will be via: Portland Road and Albert Road, or via Albert Road, Harrington Road, Cresswell Road, Addison Road, and Portland Road. Pedestrians will be diverted via the opposite footway.
4. The Order will come into operation on 26 October 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be carried out within one day. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
