Bridgehill - Temporary Road Closures due to Carriageway Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Barley Mill Road and Pleasant View, Bridgehill, Consett) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road.

Barley Mill Road: A 500 metre length that extends north westerly from its junction with Pemberton Road.

Pleasant View: A 20 metre length extending north from its junction with Barley Mill Road, Bridgehill, Consett; to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the south eastern side of the closure from Pemberton Road, north easterly, turning north westerly onto Cutlers Hall Road, then south westerly and southerly on Shotley Grove Road, leading to the north western side of the closure and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required from Monday 26/10/2026 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 5 days, between 7am-7pm per day. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
