Burnopfield - Temporary Road Closures due to Gas Main Replacement Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (C124 Syke Road and Birch Crescent, Burnopfield) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road.
Syke Road: A 42 metre length of the bus layby to the front of Burnopfield Community Centre and Birch Crescent: A 13 metre length to the side of School House and Number 21 Syke Road to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken.
Throughout the period of the closure, a diversion is available to vehicular traffic for Birch Crescent at the opposite junction to the front of No. 1 and 2 Birch Crescent.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Monday 26/10/2026 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 3 weeks.
On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
