Peterlee - Temporary Footpath Closures due to Gas Main Replacement Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Baliol Close, Grampian Drive, Isis Road and Christchurch Place, Peterlee) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath.
Baliol Close: A 147 metre length from the rear of No. 42 to the side of the garages, to the front of No. 23; a 67 metre length from the side of No. 44 to the front of No. 51; a 40 metre length from the front of No. 52 to the front of No. 59; a 33 metre length from the front of No. 54 to the front of No. 60; a 28 metre length from the front of No. 60 to the front of No. 67; a 26 metre length from the front of No. 67-69; a 32 metre length from the side of No. 64 to the front of No. 66; a 48 metre length from the front of No. 31 to the front of No. 24; a 146 metre length from the front of No. 23-3 and a 26 metre length to the side of No. 3.
Grampian Drive: A 22 metre length to the side of No. 41 and 21; a 30 metre length to the front of No. 41-38; a 40 metre length from the front of No. 36 to the front of No. 32; a 35 metre length from the front of No. 32 to the front of No. 30 and a 22 metre length to the rear of the garages adjacent No. 25 and 31.
Isis Road: A 22 metre length to the front of No. 13 and 14 Christchurch Place.
Christchurch Place: A 17 metre length to the side of No. 90; a 51 metre length from the side of No. 13 to the front of No. 8 and a 71 metre length from the front of No. 3 to the junction with Passfield Way to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken.
Throughout the period of the closure, alternative routes, where available, will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Monday 26/10/2026 and for the duration of the works, anticipated to be 11 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
