(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chapel Hill, Berden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with The Street for a distance of approximately 315m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th November 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2412009 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is via Pelham Road, Dewes Green Road, Ginns Road, Classified Road C15 North from Ginns Road To Pump Hill, B1038, Stortford Road, Berden Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 15th October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Winstanley Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 25m south west of its junction with Tukes Way for a distance of approximately 75m in a south westerly then north westerly direction.
2. To temporarily close that length of Peal Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Winstanley Road for a distance of approximately 35m in a south easterly direction.
The closures are scheduled to commence on (Sundays Only) from 8th November 2026 then on 15th November 2026 and again on 22nd November 2026, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGTTF27X01L2CSB & BC008WGTTF27XL2CSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting works are undertaken by Openreach.
Alternative route is available via
1. Winstanley Road, Cromwell Road, Landscape View, Pleasant Valley, Debden Road, Mount Pleasant Road, Peaslands Road, Winstanley Road and vice versa.
2. No diversion available.
The Order will come into effect on 15th October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Chestnut Avenue, Littlebury)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chestnut Avenue, Littlebury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 490m west then north west of its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th October 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (KL701BGK-42-50-201026 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge examination works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Chestnut Avenue, Littlebury Green Road, Strethall Road, B1383, Chestnut Avenue and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 1st October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Newport Road/Sparrowsend Hill, Saffron Walden)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Newport Road/Sparrowsend Hill, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from the junction with Cambridge Road to the junction with Rowntree Way a distance of approximately 2255m.
2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
"The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure/restriction are scheduled to commence on 19th October 2026 for 5 nights (19:00-07:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2412316/EP201EH2412316A – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/restriction are required for the safety of the public and workforce while vegetation clearance works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via B1052, B184, B1383 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 1st October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Introduction of a 30mph Speed Restriction) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction in that length of Radwinter Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 510m south east of its junction with Elizabeth Way for a distance of approximately 350m in both directions. The restriction is scheduled to commence on 19th October 2026 for 15 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP4001336604 – Bellway Homes (North London)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while site works are undertaken by Bellway Homes (North London).
The Order came into effect on 1st October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Rectory Lane, Ashdon)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Rectory Lane, Ashdon in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Church Hill for a distance of approximately 90m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th October 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410336726 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stop tap installation works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.6) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Uttlesford as specified in the schedule.
2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
"The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 1st October 2026 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.
