NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2024 FOOTPATH 65 SIBLE HEDINGHAM
On 28/09/2026, The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert a part length of Footpath 65 Sible Hedingham commencing from a point at grid reference 57842,23275 south of Brickwall Farm, commencing in a north westerly direction through a gate into a paddock then in a generally south westerly direction through another gate and along a tree lined path with a natural surface then continuing to follow the western boundary of the property known as Mount Nebo to its junction with Footpath 66 Sible Hedingham south of the lake, to an alternative route commencing at the aforementioned point south of Brickwall Farm proceeding in a south westerly direction along a private access road for a distance of approximately 339 metres, then continuing in a north westerly direction along a natural surfaced path for a final distance of approximately 60 metres to connect with the unaffected part of Footpath 65 Sible Hedingham south of the lake as shown on the order map.
A copy of the order and the order map can be requested to be posted or viewed by emailing publicpathorders@essexhighways.org to arrange a suitable time to view the document quoting the order title. The document can be made available for inspection from 8:30am-4:30pm Mon-Fri at Essex County Council, County Hall, E block main reception, Market Road, Chelmsford CM1 1QH.
A copy is also available on the Essex Highways website at: www.essexhighways.org/public-path-notices and has also been sent to Braintree District Council and Sible Hedingham Parish Council.
The alternative route comes into force on 27/10/2026 and the old route will be stopped up with effect from 04/11/2026, but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 08/10/2026, make an application to the High Court.
