TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given by the Council of the City of Sunderland that on 7th October 2026 it made an Order under Sections 1, 2 and 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act. The Order will come into force on 15th October 2026 with the effect of prohibiting waiting at any time and loading/unloading at any time along the roads in Schedule 1. Revoke the provisions of the City of Sunderland (Sheepfolds Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Other Restrictions) Traffic Order 2022 to the extent specified in Schedule 2. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which the Order is made quoting reference: JA/82853. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with that person may within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made apply for the purpose to the High Court. SCHEDULE 1 Richmond Street, Sunderland (i) the north side its entire length. (ii) the south side its entire length. SCHEDULE 2 Schedule 1.01 ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ of The City of Sunderland (Sheepfolds Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Other Restrictions) Traffic Order 2022, the Items relating to ‘Richmond Street’ (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv), are hereby revoked in their entirety. Schedule 2.01 ‘Prohibition of Loading and Unloading: At any time’ of The City of Sunderland (Sheepfolds Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Other Restrictions) Traffic Order 2022, the Items relating to ‘Richmond Street’ (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv), are hereby revoked in their entirety.
