( TEMPORARY CLOSING) ORDER  2026

The Scottish Borders Council (B6461 Ednam Road, Kelso) (Temporary Closing) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of  18 months, will come into force on 15 October 2026 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 09:00 and 13:00. The Order is required for Scottish Water works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along the B6461 Ednam Road, Kelso at the junction with Oakfield Court.

The alternative route for southbound traffic is via the B6461, A697, A6105, B6364, A6089 and B6461 to the point of closure, for northbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL (THE BORDERS REGIONAL COUNCIL

(VARIOUS STREETS, GALASHIELS) (REGULATION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 1990) (AMENDMENT) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council made the above Order on 28 September 2026 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 84(1) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended. The Order will come into operation on 14 October 2026. The effect of the Order is to make permanent The Scottish Borders Council (The Borders Regional Council) (Various Streets, Galashiels) (Regulation of Traffic Order 1990) (Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2025 to introduce a One-Way flow of traffic on a length of Road at Galapark, Galashiels from Balmoral Place to Livingstone Place in the interests of public and road safety and traffic management.

A copy of the permanent order as made, together with a map showing said lengths of road can be inspected at Traffic and Road Safety, Network, Environment and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown  St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm and on Fridays between 9.00am and 4.00pm and also at the Council’s Contact Centre at Paton Street, Galashiels, TD1 3AS from Mondays to Fridays between 10am and 12 Noon and 2pm to 4pm.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks of 14 October 2026 make application for that purpose to the Court of Session.

(THE BURGH OF SELKIRK) (VARIOUS STREETS) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND ONE WAY TRAFFIC WORKING) ORDER 1972 (AMENDMENT) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council made the above Order on 28 September 2026 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 84(1) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended. The Order will come into operation on 14 October 2026.

The effect of the Order is to make permanent The Scottish Borders Council (The Burgh of Selkirk) (Various

Streets) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and One Way Traffic Working) Order 1972 (Experimental Traffic Regulation) Order 2026 and will introduce no waiting at any time in lengths of various streets in Selkirk in the interests of public and road safety and traffic management.

A copy of the permanent order as made, together with a map showing said lengths of road can be inspected at Traffic and Road Safety, Network, Environment and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown 

St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and also at the Council’s Contact Centre, Philphaugh Community Centre, Selkirk TD7 5LT between the hours of 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks of 14 October 2026 make application for that purpose to the Court of Session.
