TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND RESTRICTION OF B4221 ROSS ROAD (NEWENT TOWN) FOREST OF DEAN DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close and restrict part of the B4221 Ross Road from its junction with Glebe Close to outside the property known as ‘No. 8’ for a distance of approximately 200 metres. The reason for the closure and restriction is for works by National Grid. There will be no stopping, loading or waiting permitted throughout the duration of the works.

The road is expected to be closed and restricted from 09:30hrs on 27th October 2026 until 15:00hrs on 29th October 2026. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

SCHEDULE

The reason for the closures and restrictions is for carriageway resurfacing works. There will be no waiting, stopping, or loading permitted throughout the duration of the said works The said roads are expected to be closed and restricted, during various times, on a rolling programme commencing 26th October 2026 where the presence of approved signage will indicate whether the closures and restrictions are in force. Further advance warnings of dates/ times will be displayed on site prior to the closures and restrictions taking effect. This Order can permit the closure and restriction of the roads in any order, or simultaneously as required. It is anticipated all works will be completed by 1st November 2026.
