What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION & COMING INTO OPERATION OF PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (FOOTPATH 1B (PART), PARISH OF LONGDEN) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2023



On 27th July 2026 an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed with modifications the above-named Order made under section119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to; divert approximately 40 metres of FP 1B at The Hazels leaving the county road at grid reference SJ 4526 0783 running in a generally SE direction to a stile at grid reference SJ 4528 0779 onto a line leaving the county road at grid reference SJ 4528 0784 running in a SSE direction along an access track before turning SSW over a grass track to meet the continuation of Footpath 1B at grid reference SJ 4528 0779. An approximate distance of 48 metres.

The Order becomes operative as from 27th July 2026, but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 8th October 2026 to make an application to the High Court.
