(POLEBROOK PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY NP17) PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2026

On the 13th of August 2026 North Northamptonshire Council made the above Order.
The above Order was made on the 13th of August, under Section 118 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the Order is to extinguish part of the width of the public right of way situated in the Parish of Polebrook, as shown by the continuous black and white hatching on the Order Map and described in the Schedule to the Order. The extinguishment will take effect seven days after the date on which the Order is confirmed.
The section to be extinguished corresponds to the width previously recorded in the Order titled The North Northamptonshire Council Creation of (Public Bridleway NP17 and Public Bridleway ME12 – Lutton Road to Ashton Wold – in the Parishes of Polebrook and Ashton Wold and the Deletion of Part of Public Bridleway ME5 in the Parish of Ashton Wold) Definitive Map Modification Order 2024, which stated a width of 15.2 metres at its junction with Lutton Road tapering to 9.1 metres at a point 31 metres north of point A. That width was derived from the Enclosure Award description of the route running “in a southerly direction into through and over the first allotment to William Walcot the younger along the eastern extremity thereof to the said Lutton Road.
Following the extinguishment, the bridleway will retain a width of 5 metres, as shown by the green shading on the Order Map and defined in the Schedule.
The public bridleway NP17 commences at National Grid Reference ("NGR") TL 0892 8720 (Order Plan Point A) in the parish of Polebrook and extends in a north-north-westerly direction for 574 metres to the parish boundary with Ashton Wold at NGR TL 0882 8776 (Order Plan Point D).
Between points A and D, the extinguished width and the remaining width of 5 meters are shown respectively by the black and white hatching and green shading on the Order Map. The continuous bold green line represents the centreline of the bridleway, with a width of 2.5 metres on either side. For the first 125.75 metres northwards from Order Plan Point A at NGR TL 0892 8720, the 5 metre width is measured eastwards from the eastern property boundary and fence line of 2 Bluestone Cottages, Lutton Road. Thereafter, the bridleway follows a clearly defined raised path between areas of woodland.
