NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

BLYTH VALLEY PUBLIC FOOTPATH NUMBER 13

(TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by pedestrian traffic on a section of the Blyth Valley public footpath number 13 in the County of Northumberland as described below:

Blyth Valley Public Footpath Number 13

From the junction with public footpath number 22 on the southern side of the railway level crossing in a north-easterly direction for a distance of 25 metres over the railway crossing to the junction with public bridleway number 16 and public bridleway number 178 south-west of Chase Meadows.

There is no alternative route for pedestrian traffic for the duration of the Order.

The Order is to be effective from the 13th October 2026 until the 13th April 2026.

Enquiries should be made to Tim Fish, Area Countryside Officer by email to: [Tim.Fish@northumberland.gov.uk](mailto:Tim.Fish@northumberland.gov.uk)

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council due to a likelihood of danger not attributable to works but is due to the footpath crossing a railway line which is unsafe due to an increased number of trains, the increased speed of trains and a line of visibility that does not meet rail standards for users crossing the railway line using the footpath.

DATED this 2nd day of October 2026.
