THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 42 TO JUNCTION 41)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in the District of Wakefield, to enable Department for Transport traffic stats site maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Thursday 29 October 2026 for 1 night, or until completed, and will take place between 9pm and 5am. The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the:
(i) A1(M) southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 42 (Selby Fork) to the entry link road connecting the M62 eastbound carriageway with the A1(M) southbound carriageway at Holmfield Interchange (A1(M) Junction 41 and M62 Junction 32a); a distance of 8100 metres;
(ii) A1(M) southbound entry slip road at Junction 42; and
(iii) link road connecting the A1(M) southbound carriageway to the M62 eastbound and westbound carriageways at Holmfield Interchange;
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works, or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 28 October 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
