What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Bishop Road and Booth Road, Wednesbury) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Bishop Road, which will be closed from the junction Johnson Road for 40 metres and Booth Road, which will be closed at the junction of Bishop Road. Traffic will be diverted via Booth Road for both road closures. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 26/10/2026, effective from 12/10/2026 (24hr). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Regent Road, Oldbury) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) and (New Birmingham Road, Oldbury) (Temporary No Right Turn Restriction) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Regent Road, which will be closed one-way in a southerly direction between the junctions of New Birmingham Road & Regent Road (northern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The order also intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via a right turn from New Birmingham Road to Regent Road. A traffic diversion route in an easterly direction will be signed via New Birmingham Road, City Road & Oakham Road. A traffic diversion route in a westerly direction will be signed via New Birmingham Road, Birmingham Road, Castle Hill, Trindle Road, Hall Street, Dixons Green Road & Oakham Road. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 13/10/2026 (9:30am-3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for water service maintenance works by South Staffs Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Upper Church Lane, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding a long Upper Church Lane, which will be closed from south of its junction with Lichfield Street to the dividing line of property No’s 57 & 58. Access t o any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via High Street, Wednesbury Oak Road, Gospel Oak Road, Leabrook Road, Black Country New Road, Great Westen Way, New Road, Horseley Road, Alexandra Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 11/10/2026 (9:30am-3:30pm). Purpose – t o facilitate access f or maintenance works by Severn Trent Water.
