What is happening?

Temporary Traffic Management Order (Footpath 47, Barking) (Temporary Footpath Closure) - Order 2026

Notice Of Intent

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate flood & landscape works, THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The order will come into effect on Wednesday 18 November 2026 with works expected for:
- Flood & landscape works to take 6 months to complete. Completion date estimated as Tuesday 18 May 2027 with the work expected to be undertaken between the hours of 12:00am and 11:59pm.

However, the Order will remain in force for 6 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate signs to divert pedestrians are being displayed the Order will temporarily:-
- Prohibit all pedestrians on Footpath 47, both sides, from its junction with Choats Road for a distance of approximately 1,516 metres, crossing Gores Bridge, proceeding south towards the River Thames, then south-west along the river edge to the rear of the Barking Riverside Project Office, and north-west to its junction with Project Road.

4. An alternative route for pedestrians will be maintained and signed via: Project Road, Fielders Crescent, Northgate Road, Choats Road and vice versa.
