What is happening?

Notice is hereby given that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council by
virtue of the powers conferred on it by Article 8A and Schedule 3A of the
Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, is minded to
make an Order to temporarily restrict or prohibit all traffic for the
following events:
Newry Christmas Lights Switch On

An application has been received from Newry Mourne and Down
District Council for the purposes of Newry Christmas Lights Switch On.
The restriction will start on Thursday 19 November 2026 from
3.30pm to 10pm.
Full Road Closures: Hill Street from Sugar Island to O’Hagan Street
Junction, Newry.
Alternative routes will be signed for all events.

Persons wishing to make representations to the Council regarding the
proposal may make representations in writing at the address below by
5pm on Wednesday 4 November 2026. Representations received after
this date will not be considered.
