What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATHS

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL 
(EAST DRAYTON FOOTPATH NO.16, DARLTON FOOTPATH NO.2 AND NO.3 AND RAGNALL FOOTPATH NO.5) 
(TEMPORARYPROHIBITION) CONTINUATION ORDER 2026 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council HAS MADE an ORDER, under Sections 14 and 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:

To continue the effects of The Nottinghamshire County Council (East Drayton Public Footpath 16, Darlton Public Footpath 2, Darlton Public Footpath 3 And Ragnall Public Footpath 5) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2026.

That Notice came into force on 22nd September 2026.

The effects are that:-
No person shall:-
(a) proceed on foot,
in the following lengths of footpaths at East Drayton, Darlton and Ragnall in the District of Bassetlaw;- East Drayton Footpath NO.16, Darlton Footpath No.2 and No.3 and Ragnall Footpath No.5 between Southbeck Lane, East Drayton Road, and the A57.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the is no direct alternative route via public rights of way for pedestrians.

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition respecting the above highway or highways will apply as follows:- To 22nd March 2027 inclusive.

The Continuation Order will come into force on 13th October 2026 and any prohibition contained in the continued Order shall apply on that day and on any subsequent day or days when it shall be necessary for the prohibition to apply to enable works to be carried out and the Order shall continue in full force until the works it is proposed to carry out are completed The duration of this Order may be extended with the approval of the relevant Secretary of State.

The prohibition is required to protect public safety following damage to three footbridges, and to enable repairs to be carried out.
