ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING

(TTO26-27-55) ORDER 2026

(CANEWDON ROAD)

Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council intends, no less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from parking, stopping, waiting, loading, unloading in Canewdon Road.

The Order shall also prohibit, when required to facilitate the works, the eastbound and westbound movements of traffic through the signal-controlled junction of Canewdon Road and Hamlet Court Road together with the turning movements into and out of Hamlet Court Road. Access along Canewdon Road shall otherwise be maintained under temporary traffic management arrangements.

The Order will come into effect from 7.30am until 5.30pm daily on 12 October 2026 until 11 January 2027; however, this Order may continue in force for a maximum of 12 months to allow for remedial work or delays.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst footway resurfacing is carried out.

The alternative routes are via: Ditton Court Road St Helen’s Road, Hamlet Court Road and vice versa.

Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the TRAFFIC SIGNS REGULATIONS AND GENERAL DIRECTIONS 2016.

Any vehicle in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
