Craigmillar Park Area - Temporary Traffic Restrictions

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(CRAIGMILLAR PARK AREA) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026 - TEMP/26/84

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and footway works, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of the roads specified in Schedule 1, provided that no more than one of the measures in Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Phase 4 shall be enacted at the same time; (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait, or load onto or unload from any vehicle on any part of the roads specified in Schedule 2; & (c) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 3, otherwise than in the direction specified in column 2 of the said Schedule, provided that no more than one of the measures described in Schedule 3 shall be enacted at the same time. The bus lanes on Craigmillar Pk, mayfield gdns and minto st shall be suspended for the duration of this Order, to facilitate the alternative routes and one-way restrictions on these roads. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in Schedule 2. There are no alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures of:

Phase 1, (v) minto mews; and (vii) grantully Pl; Phase 2, (iii) newlands Pk; and (vi) James gall Wynd; and Phase 4; (i) east suffolk Pk.

The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures are:

Phase 1, (i) salisbury rd – Salisbury Rd, Newington Rd, East Preston St and Dalkeith Rd; (ii) Causewayside – Causewayside, West Preston St, Newington Rd and Salisbury Pl; (iii) duncan st – Upper Gray St, Salisbury Pl, Causewayside, West Preston St, Newington Rd and Minto St; (iv) blacket ave – Blacket Ave, Dalkeith Rd, East Preston St, Newington Rd, Minto St and Blacket Ave; (vi) middleby st – Middleby St, Sth Gray St, Upper Gray St, Salisbury Pl, Causewayside, West Preston St, Newington Rd and Minto St; (viii) mayfield Ter – Mayfield Ter, Dalkeith Rd, East Preston St, Newington Rd, Minto St and Blacket Ave; (ix) West mayfield – West Mayfield, Ratcliffe Ter, Causewayside, West Preston St, Newington Rd and Minto St; (x) east mayfield – East Mayfield, Dalkeith Rd, East Preston St, Newington Rd and Minto St;

Phase 2, (i) bright’s Cres – Bright’s Cres, Mayfield Rd, Ratcliffe Ter, Causewayside, Salisbury Pl, Minto St and Mayfield Gdns; (ii) Queen’s Cres – Queen’s Cres, Dalkeith Rd, Salisbury Rd, Minto St and Peel Ter; (iv) mentone gdns – Mentone Gdns, Glenorchy Ter, Mentone Ter, Mayfield Rd, Ratcliffe Ter, Causewayside, Salisbury Pl, Minto St and Mayfield Gdns; (v) Ventnor Ter – Ventnor Ter, McLaren Rd, Queen’s Cres, Dalkeith Rd, Salisbury Rd, Minto St and Mayfield Gdns; (vii) Crawfurd rd – Crawfurd Rd, East Suffolk Rd and Craigmillar Pk; (viii) east savile rd – East Savile Rd, Gilmour Rd, Suffolk Rd, Mayfield Rd, West Mayfield, Mayfield Gdns and Craigmillar Pk;

Phase 3, (i) east suffolk rd – East Suffolk Rd, Crawfurd Rd and Craigmillar Pk; (ii) suffolk rd – Suffolk Rd, Mayfield Rd, West Mayfield, Mayfield Gdns and Craigmillar Pk;

and Phase 4, (ii) Wilton rd – Wilton Rd, Mayfield Rd, Esslemont Rd, Gordon Ter and Craigmillar Pk; and (iii) lygon rd – Mayfield Rd, Esslemont Rd, Gordon Ter and Craigmillar Pk. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the one-way roads in Phase 4 will be by way of: Craigmillar Pk - Lady Rd, Cameron Toll, Dalkeith Rd (Cameron Cres), East Mayfield, Mayfield Gdns and Craigmillar Pk and vice versa.

The Order shall have effect from 05/10/26 to 19/02/27.

SCHEDULE 2 PROHIBITION OF WAITING LOADING AND UNLOADING

(i) newington rd from the extended north kerbline of Salisbury Rd, northwards for 50m; (ii) salisbury rd from the extended east kerbline of Minto St/ Newington Rd, eastwards for 40m; (iii) salisbury Pl from the extended west kerbline of Minto St/Newington Rd, westwards for 40m; (iv) east mayfield from the extended east kerbline of Mayfield Gdns/Minto St, eastwards for 50m; (v) West mayfield from the extended west kerbline of Mayfield Gdns/ Minto St, westwards for 50m; (vi) minto st in its entirety; (vii) mayfield gdns in its entirety; and (viii) Craigmillar Pk in its entirety.
