What is happening?

WAITING AND PERMITTED PARKING) (VARIATION NO.*) ORDER 20**
NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all enabling powers. The effect of the Order – for road safety reasons – is to introduce new ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ parking restrictions (Double Yellow Lines) on both sides of Overthorpe Road in Banbury, extending westwards from its roundabout junction with Ermont Way/Dorcas Road, to the traffic calming feature at the junction with the access to St Leonards CofE Primary School.
Additionally – for administrative purposes – the existing ‘No Waiting Mon-Sat 8am-6pm’ waiting restrictions (Single Yellow Lines) on Thorpe Way, Thorpe Close, Thorpe Drive & Thorpe Lane within the Industrial Estate will be formalised, to be added to the map-based order, with no changes to the current lined & signed restrictions on-theground.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Thorpe Way Area, Banbury) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 1992 will be revoked, and the Oxfordshire County Council (Various Roads – Cherwell) (Map Based) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted Parking) Order 2021 will be further amended, updating Map Tiles: AQ56, AQ57, AR56 & AR57 in the process. The Oxfordshire County Council (Thorpe Way Area, Banbury) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 1992 is revoked.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 30 October 2026. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public. Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Burdrop & Sibford Gower – Acre Ditch & Pound Lane
Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting
Date of Order: 12 October 2026
Coming into force: 26 October 2026
This Order is being introduced because of resurfacing of the carriageway and reinstatement of road markings which are anticipated to be completed 4 November 2026. This will operate between 20:00 and 06:00hrs. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in Acre Ditch between Pound Lane and Hawks Lane; and Pound Lane between Backside Lane and Barley Close. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Acre Ditch, Hawks Lane, B4035, Pound Lane and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T18091/AC)

Nature of Restriction: Public Right of Way Closure
Location: Milcombe Footpath 298/10/10, South Newington, Oxfordshire (Street Through South Newington)
Description of Works: Footpath closure due to unsafe bridge/ boardwalk being carried out by Oxfordshire County Council.

Duration: Starting on 29/09/2026
The anticipated completion date is 31/08/2027 (inclusive)
(Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders have a maximum duration of 18 months for roads, or 6 months for other public rights of way).
Access: Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for properties within the closed section of road where reasonably practicable.
Suggested Alternative Route: Diversion will be signed locally.

Nature of Restriction: Road Closure
Location: Ledwell Road, Maplewood Barns, Great Tew, Oxfordshire
Description of Works: New water connection being carried out by Network Plus. TTRO reference: 687
Duration: Starting on 18/11/2026
The anticipated completion date is 21/11/2026 (inclusive)
(Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders have a maximum duration of 18 months for roads, or 6 months for other public rights of way).
Access: Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for properties within the closed section of road where reasonably practicable.
Suggested Alternative Route: Diversion via Ledwell Road, Manor Road, B4030, B4022, Ledwell Roadand vice versa.

Description of Works: Fibre cabling works being carried out by Centercomms. TTRO reference: 661
Duration: Starting on 23/11/2026
The anticipated completion date is 26/11/2026 (inclusive)

Access: Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for properties within the closed section of road where reasonably practicable.
