What is happening?

THE CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON (WINCHESTER ROAD) (ROAD CLOSURE) (203/67) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Southampton City Council intends to make the above Order.

1. The effect of the Order will be to close the roads listed in schedule 1.

Winchester Road from Hill Lane to Bassett Avenue Northbound Only 24/7 Hill Lane, Burgess Road, Bassett Avenue
Bassett Crescent West at it’s junction with Burgess Road Both 24/7 Burgess Road, Bassett Avenue
Winchester Road from Hill Lane to Bassett Avenue Both 20:00-06:00 only Hill Lane, Burgess Road, Bassett Avenue

2. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road. These works are Highway Improvements.

2. The alternative route will be Hill Lane, Burgess Road and Bassett Avenue.

3. The Order will come into force on 19th October 2026 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. It is expected that the works will be completed by 4th December 2026.
