What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN
(WOODCOCK HILL ROAD, BLACKBURN & LONG LANE, BLACKBURN & SANDY LANE, BLACKBURN)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, intend to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order is to close Woodcock Hill Road, Long Lane, and Sandy Lane for the following extent: Junction of Old Hall Lane to 600m North of Long Lane.
The closure is necessary for the following reason: DUCT BLOCKAGE CLEARANCE, DUCT INSTALLATION & CABLING.
The Order will come into force on 12th October 2026 and shall continue in force for a period of eighteen months or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 23rd October 2026.
The alternative route for the affected traffic will be Preston Old Road, Buncer Lane, Billinge Avenue, Preston New Road, Billinge End Road and vice versa.
Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
