The A24 GLA Road (Stonecot Hill and London Road, London Borough of Sutton) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic and Stopping) Order 2026

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable carriageway resurfacing works to take place on the A24 Stonecot Hill and London Road.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on the A24 Stonecot Hill and London Road between its junctions with Kingsbridge Road and Trafalgar Avenue/Hamilton Place. Local access will be maintained between its junctions with Gander Green Lane and Trafalgar Avenue/Hamilton Place. Also, between its junctions with Tudor Drive/Sutton Common Road and Kingsbridge Road.

The Order will be effective at certain times between 20th October 2026 and 22nd April 2027 every night 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs for northbound traffic via Gander Green Lane, Oldfields Road and Sutton Common Road to normal route of travel. For northbound traffic in London Road (southbound) via Senhouse Road, Church Hill Road, London Road (northbound) to the diversion route above. For southbound traffic via Tudor Drive (westbound), Lower Morden Lane Roundabout, Tudor Drive (eastbound), Sutton Common Road, Oldfields Road and Gander Green Lane to normal route of travel.
