Essex - Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Bendlowes Road, Great Bardfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bendlowes Road, Great Bardfield in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 35m north east of its junction with Alienor Avenue for a distance of approximately 20m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th October 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310804265 – Anglian Water Business (National)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National).

An alternative route is available via Braintree Road, Alienor Avenue and vice versa (with access only into Bendlowes Road).

The Order will come into effect on 8th October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cranes Lane, Kelvedon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cranes Lane, Kelvedon in the District of Braintree, from its junction with London Road to its end a distance of approximately 665m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 26th October 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC311003WH3T7F0N – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

No alternative route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 8th October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Station Road, Earls Colne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Station Road, Earls Colne in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 95m south east of its junction De Vere Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th October 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310811592 – Anglian Water Business (National)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National).

An alternative route is available via A1124, Fenn Road, Brook Street, Halstead Road, Brook Street and vice versa (with access only into Station Road).

The Order will come into effect on 8th October 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Braintree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.21) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.
  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 8th October 2026 exact dates will be specified on one.network. The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Lane, Cressing in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Braintree Road for a distance of approximately 300m in a south westerly then westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th October 2026 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03768656990 – Anglian Water Business (National)). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while lining works are undertaken by Anglian Water Business (National).

An alternative route is available via Braintree Road and vice versa (with access only into Mill Lane).

The Order came into effect on 24th September 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
