Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

B2068 Nackington Road, Lower Hardres, CT4 7AA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow expansion joint replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2068 Nackington Road, Lower Hardres from 12th October 2026 with estimated completion by 31st October 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 only, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Merton Lane, south of the bridge and the entrance to Winters Barns, north of the bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any northbound traffic is via Bridge Road, Station Road, Dover Road, A2050 Roman Road, New Dover Road, Old Dover Road and B2068 Nackington Road.

The alternative route for any southbound traffic is via B2068 Nackington Road, Old Dover Road, New Dover Road, A2050 Roman Road, A2, Bifrons Hill, Town Hill and Station Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Broadway, Petham, CT4 5RX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broadway, Petham from 29th October 2026, with estimated completion by 31st October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Crofts Wood, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broadway, Waltham Road, Kake Street, Richdore Road, Woods Hill, Waltham Road, The Street, From Dean Bottom To District Boundary, Dean Bottom, Dean Hill, Thorn Lane, B2068 Stone Street, Town Road, The Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Carter Road, Bekesbourne (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Carter Road, Bekesbourne from 12th October 2026 with estimated completion by 13th October 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 280m south of the junction with Chalkpit Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Carter Road, Adisham Road, Bramling Road, Shepherd’s Cross Road, Carter Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Church Road, Littlebourne, CT3 1UL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow water pipe replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road, Littlebourne from 28th October 2026, with estimated completion by 30th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Church Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Road, Nargate Street, A257 High Street, Jubilee Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Cromwell Road, Whitstable, CT5 1HQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow the surface water separation project to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Cromwell Road, Whitstable from 12th October 2026, with estimated completion by 23rd October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic northbound is via Cromwell Road, B2205 Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street and Harbour Street.

The alternative route for any through traffic southbound is via B2205 Harbour Street, High Street, Oxford Street and Cromwell Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Island Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Island Wall, Whitstable from 14th October 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed for 335m to the junction with Collingwood Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Mayton Lane, Broad Oak, CT2 0QJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mayton Lane, Broad Oak from 29th October 2026 with estimated completion by 30th October 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Nook Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Northgate, Canterbury, CT1 2EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow water pipe reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Northgate, Canterbury from 19:00 hours on 27th October 2026, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 28th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 76a, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for northeastbound traffic is via Northgate, Broad Street, A28 Military Road, Tourtel Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place and Union Street.

The alternative route for southwestbound traffic is via Northgate, B2248 Kingsmead Road, St Stephens Road, North Lane, The Causeway, Pound Lane, St Radigunds Street, Knott’s Lane, King Street and Borough.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Nunnery Fields, Canterbury, CT1 3JN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow structural repairs to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Nunnery Fields, Canterbury from 12th October 2026 with estimated completion by 14th October 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the rail bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2068 Old Dover Road, Ethelbert Road, South Canterbury Road, Nunnery Fields and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Pilgrims Road, Canterbury, CT1 1XT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pilgrims Road, Canterbury from 26th October 2026, with estimated completion by 30th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with Pilgrims Way, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pilgrims Road, Pilgrims Way, Barton Road, A2050 New Dover Road, St George’s Place, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, St Martin’s Hill, Spring Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Pound Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2WR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow surface water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pound Lane, Canterbury from 28th October 2026 with estimated completion by 29th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with The Causeway and St Peter’s Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via Pound Lane, The Causeway, North Lane, B2248 St Stephens Road, Kingsmead Road, A28 Sturry Road, Northgate, New Ruttington Lane, Union Place, Union Street, Northgate and St Radigunds Street.

The alternative route for westbound traffic is via Pound Lane, St Radigunds Street, Knott’s Lane, King Street, Borough, Northgate, A28 Sturry Road, B2248 Kingsmead Road, St Stephens Road, North Lane and The Causeway.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Stodmarsh Road, Littlebourne, CT3 4AP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Stodmarsh Road, Littlebourne from 26th October 2026, with estimated completion by 30th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Redwalls, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Stodmarsh Road, A257 Littlebourne Road, St Martins Hill, Longport, Lower Chantry Lane, A2050 St Georges Place, A28 Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, Sturry Road, Mill Road, Fordwich Road, King Street, High Street, Moat Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Underdown Road, Herne Bay, CT6 5SR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2026

To allow surface water line installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Underdown Road, Herne Bay from 12th October 2026, with estimated completion by 6th November 2026 or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Victoria Park and Queen Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Victoria Park, South Road, Queens Gardens and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The One-Way Order on Underdown Road will be suspended between the junctions with Queens Gardens and Victoria park, to allow access.
