Wiltshire - Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) C12 (Part), Broad Chalke; from its property known as The Old Bakehouse for a distance of approximately 620m in an easterly direction to enable Wessex Internet to carry out cabling and associated works. Alternative route via C12 (unaffected length) – C326 – C65 – C12 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 26 October 2026 and the closure will be required 06 November 2026. B) Churchfields Road (Part), Salisbury; from its junction with Mill Road for a distance of approximately 130m in a westerly direction to enable Wessex Water Services to carry out cover and frame repairs and associated works. HGV access to be maintained during works. Alternative route via Churchfields Road (unaffected length) – Lower Road – A3094 – A338 – Exeter Street – St Johns Street – New Street – Crane Street – Cranebridge Road – Mill Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 27 October 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 10:00 and 15:00 for 1 day. C) C12 (Part), Coombe Bissett; from its junction with Drove Lane to its property known as Coombe Farm Cottages to enable Wessex Internet to carry out cabling and associated works. Alternative route via C12 (unaffected length) – C320 – A3094 – A354 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 26 October 2026 and the closure will be required until 06 November 2026. D) C318 (Part), Tisbury; for a distance of approximately 50m either side of the railway bridge to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge and associated works. Alternative route via C318 (unaffected length) – C25 – C24 – C318 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 October 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 for 1 night. E) Amesbury Road (Part), Amesbury; from its junction with A303 to its junction with A3028 to enable National Highways Ltd to carry out vegetation clearance and other associated works. This Order will come into operation on 09 October 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 for 1 night. F) Old Road (Part), Alderbury; from its junction with Southampton Road to its junction with The Green to enable Tree Management Company to carry out tree cutting and associated works. Alternative route via The Green – Southampton Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 October 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:30 until 09 October 2026. G) C256 (Part), Ludgershall; from its junction with A342 for a distance of approximately 60m in a southerly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge inspection. Alternative route via C256 (unaffected length) – Andover Lane – A342 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 October 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 for 1 night. H) Hindes Meadow (Part), Shrewton; from its junction with Elston Lane for a distance of approximately 33m in an easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out excavate to lay 11m duct and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2026 and the closure will be required for 3 days. I) C320, Stratford Toney, Netherhampton and Wilton; from its junction with C12 to its junction with A3094 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing and associated works. Alternative route via A3094 – A354 – C12 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 October 2026 and the closure will be required until weekdays only between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00 until 14 October 2026. J) Whitscombe Brow (Part), Orcheston; from its property known as Hunters Moon for a distance of approximately 80m in a southerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement. No alternative route is available. This Order which previously came into operation on 21 August 2026 will now recommence on 08 October 2026 and the closure will be required for 1 day. K) C262 (Part), Chute; from its northern junction with UC 305301 to its southern junction with UC 305301.
L) UC 305301 (Part), Chute; from its junction with C262 for a distance of approximately 45m in a north easterly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out joint bay and trenching works to upgrade existing substation and provide a new connection. Alternative route via Malthouse Lane – Hookwood Lane – Hatchet Hill and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 29 June 2026 will now recommence on 06 October 2026 and the closure will be required until 15 October 2026. Orders A) to I) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Orders J) to L) has a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

(ONE WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to revoke The County of Wiltshire (Various Roads, Salisbury) (One Way Traffic) Order 2022, re-enact it the above Order and to amend the current one way to become one way traffic with exemption for pedal cycles on the following lengths of road:
Coldharbour Lane – from its junction with Ashley Road to its junction with Meadow Road/Gas Lane/Marsh Lane – with direction of permitted travel from Ashley Road south easterly to its junction with Meadow Road/Gas Lane/Marsh Lane;
Meadow Road – from its junction with Coldharbour Lane/Gas Lane/Marsh Lane to its junction with York Road – with direction of permitted travel from Coldharbour Lane south easterly to York Road.
Copies of the draft Order, plan and Statement of the Council's Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours.
