Temporary Traffic Management Order,

A351 Valley Road, Harmans Cross

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The effect of the Order will be to impose a temporary 30 mph speed limit upon A351 Valley Road, Harmans Cross, from the 30mph / 50mph signs at the western end of Harmans Cross to the junction with B3069 (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1520 meters. The temporary speed limit has been requested due to health and safety reasons due to expected increase in pedestrian presence on the Afflington (A351) bridge between Harmans Cross and Corfe Castle, due to the Flying Scotsman visiting Swanage.

The Temporary Speed limit will commence from 23 October 2026 until 2 November 2026. However it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be in place on the following dates, 24, 25, 28, 29 October and 1 November 2026.

Temporary Closure of Northbrook Road, Swanage

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles, cyclists and pedestrian will be prohibited from proceeding along Northbrook Road, Swanage between between Gilbert Road and Court Road (in both directions), a distance of approximately 60 metres. The closure has been requested to allow Swanage Railway to close Northbrook Road Railway Bridge to allow for excessive pedestrian access due to the Flying Scotsman visit at Swanage Railway. The closure is programmed to commence between 23 October 2026 until 2nd November 2026, however the closure will only operate on the Flying Scotsman running days (24,25,28, 29 October and 1 November 2026). The bridge will be open during day when the train is not running.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: Court Road, Kings Road West, Rempstone Road, A351.
