What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (HOLLY HILL, FELLING, GATESHEAD) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) proposes to make an Order in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Northumbria Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.
The proposed Order will introduce waiting restrictions around the island at the junction of Sunderland Road and Holly Hill Road following concerns in respect of safety and visibility. This is to secure the safe movement of both vehicular traffic and pedestrians at this location.
The draft Order together with plans and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be viewed at the information desk on the ground floor of Gateshead Council’s Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HH, Monday to Thursday between 8.45am and 5.00pm and Friday between 8.45am and 4.30pm or online at: www.gateshead.gov.uk/trafficschemes.
If you wish to object to the proposed Order, you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to be received by the undersigned at the above address on or before 27 October 2026.
