What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(B5343 CHAPEL STILE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION)

(NO WAITING AT ANY TIME AND NO LOADING/UNLOADING AT ANY TIME RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public, as a result of the dangerous condition of a retaining structure, Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day, and from loading/unloading at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along that section of the B5343 Chapel Stile (both sides) from its junction with Thrang Brow extending in a westerly direction for approx. 125 metres.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

This follows two emergency notices dated 28 August 2026 and 18 September 2026.

The Order will come into operation on 9 October 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
