What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(Temporary Closing Of Barkway Road, Nuthampstead) Order No.2 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Barkway Road, Nuthampstead from a point 242m southwest of its junction with Nuthampstead Public Bridleway No.006 south westwards for a distance of approximately 100m, except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Barkway Road, C11 (unnamed road), Raymounts Lane, C11 (unnamed road) and Barkway Road.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 21 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing And Waiting Restrictions On Various Roads In Royston, Ashwell And Reed) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. That length of B1039 Barkway Road, Royston from its junction with Prince Andrews Close south eastwards to its junction with Whiteley Hill, a distance of approximately 571m.
An alternative route will be via: A10 (Barkway Street/London Road/Ermine Street/Buntingford Bypass), B1038 (Baldock Road/Hare Street Road/unnamed road), B1368 (unnamed road/Biggins Hill/London Road/High Street/Cambridge Road/High Street) and B1039 Royston Road.

2. That length of Duck Lake Lane, Ashwell from its junction with Ashwell Road south westwards to its junction with Springhead, a distance of approximately 220m.
An alternative route will be via: Ashwell Road, Station Road, Lucas Lane and Springhead.

3. That length of Jacksons Lane, Reed from its junction with High Street north westwards to its junction with Blacksmiths Lane, a distance of approximately 300m.
An alternative route will be via: Crow Lane, The Joint and Brickyard Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 19 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of Poplar Drive, Royston) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Poplar Drive, Royston from its junctions with Newmarket Road northwards to its junction with Garden Close, a distance of approximately 515m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Newmarket Road, Icknield Walk and Garden Close.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 19 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 10 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Church End, Barley) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Church End, Barley from its junction with B1368 High Street north eastwards for distance of approximately 280m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: B1368 High Street, B1039 Picknage Road and Church End.

The Order is needed because the installation of new electricity cables is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 19 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 4 weeks to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
