The reason for the closure is for drainage works.

The road is expected to be closed from 5th October 2026 until 9th October 2026 only.

The reason for the closure is for works by Severn Trent Water.

The said road is expected to be closed from 08:00hrs on 7th October 2026 until 16:00hrs on 9th October 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

The reason for the closures is for the removal of sign lanterns and brackets from rail bridges The said roads are expected to be closed, between the hours of 19:30 and 23:59 each night commencing 5th October 2026 where the presence of approved signage will indicate whether the closures are in force. 

Further advance warnings of dates/times will be displayed on site prior to the closures taking effect. This Order can permit the closure of the roads in any order, or simultaneously as required. It is anticipated all works will be completed by 7th December 2026.

On 24th July 2026 the Secretary of State confirmed with modifications the above Diversion Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert the length of public footpath as described in the Schedule. 

A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order Plan may be seen free of charge during normal office hours at Gloucestershire County Council, Shire Hall, Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2TG and Stroud District Council, Ebley Mill, Stroud, Glos, GL5 4UB. 

Copies of the Order and Order Plan may be obtained free of charge by emailing prow@gloucestershire.gov.uk (please quote reference MPA/95/TH). 

The Order comes into force on 21st August 2026 but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the power of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of either Act, or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, they may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to HA1980 as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act and as applied by s53A(7) WCA1981, within six weeks from 1st October 2026, apply to the High Court.

The reason for the closure is for urgent drainage works.

The road was originally closed for 5 days by Notice which commenced on the 23rd September 2026. It was not possible to complete the works during the 5 days and it has been necessary to make an Order. 

This Order can close the road for up to 18 months from the date of the Notice, or until the works have been completed.

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily restrict part of the A40 Gloucester Road to prevent any stopping, waiting, loading or unloading from a point adjacent to No.42 Gloucester Road extending for an approximate distance of 30 metres in a Westerly direction.

The reason for this restriction and suspension is to ensure safety during cable recovery works using heavy machinery.

In order to facilitate the works it will be necessary to suspend the “Gloucestershire County Council Bus Lane Order 2021” in so far as it relates to this location.

The said road is expected to be restricted on the 23rd October 2026 only or until the works have been completed whichever is the earlier.
