Notice of Confirmation of a Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order - Highways Act 1980 / Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Dorset Council (Part of Footpath 11, Puncknowle) Public Path Diversion Order 2026
On 17 September 2026 Dorset Council confirmed the above-named order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 as unopposed and the Council has certified that work has been carried out to bring the site of the new highway mentioned in article 3 of the order into a fit condition for use by the public.
The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert Footpath 11, Puncknowle as shown on the order map as follows: From the existing path: From SY 5376 8849 generally southeast through the gardens of 9, 8 and 7 Springfield into a field and continuing southeast to SY 5382 8842. (No recorded width).
To the new path: From SY 5376 8849 southeast to SY 5376 8848, where it enters a field then southeast to SY 5379 8843, then east southeast, crossing into a second field and continuing east southeast to SY 5382 8842. Width — 2 metres except at (SY 5376 8848), 1.1 metre pedestrian gate to BS5709:2018.
A copy of the order as confirmed and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Reception, County Hall, Colliton Park, Dorchester during normal office hours. Copies are also available on our website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/row-orders.
The order comes into force on 24 September 2026 but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 1 October 2026, make an application to the High Court.

Temporary Traffic Management Order
Newmans Drove, Shillingstone
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
It will come into operation on 8 October 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 4 November 2026. This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
The effect of the order is as follows: [1] To impose temporary road closure on Newmans Drove, Shillingstone, between junction with Bere Marsh to a point approximately 825 metres to the North (in both directions). Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along Newmans Drove, Shillingstone, between junction with Bere Marsh to a point approximately 825 metres to the North (in both directions). Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
