What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (LAUREL ROAD BLAYDON) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to 1) prohibit vehicles from waiting, stopping or loading on Laurel Road (west side) from No.1 in a north westerly direction for a distance of 2 metres, and 2) prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the footway from No.1 Laurel Road in a southeasterly direction for a distance of 6 metres.
The Order is required to facilitate works to install a telecom pole. The Order will come into force at 08:00 on 15 October 2026. The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months; however the works are expected to be completed by 16:00 on the 16 October 2026.
During the works all vehicles (except vehicles associated with the works and emergency service vehicles on duty) will be prohibited from waiting, stopping and loading on the section of road as set out at 1). above, and all pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along the above footway as set out at 2). above until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the works there will be a signed diversion in place.
